SUMMARY:2026 - September 16 - Interviewing Children with Problematic Sexual Behaviors
DESCRIPTION:This will be held virtually – Link will be sent out the week of the training \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT \n\n\n\nChildren exhibiting problematic sexual behaviors may be referred for a forensic interview. CAC forensic interviewers whose mission is to interview children about potential maltreatment they have experienced and not as offenders find themselves balancing their mandate with the goals of investigators and concerned parents. This training will provide information to help forensic interviewers distinguish normative from problematic sexual behavior in children\, identify potential contributing factors to the behavior\, dispel common misconceptions about these behaviors and children\, and have a more robust and evidence-informed response to these cases. Interview adaptations and recommendations will be provided. \n\n\n\nThis training is recommended for forensic interviewers who have developed some comfort and flexibility with the continuum of questioning strategies as well as the phases of a forensic interview.

SUMMARY:2026 - June 8 - Advocate Round Table
DESCRIPTION:Victim Advocacy Round Table (June 8 at 11 EST) with our guest Advocacy & Training Alliance. \n\n\n\nAdvocacy and Training Alliance is a professional association comprised of individuals and organizations that\, in their daily work\, respond to youth who have caused sexual harm. In response to the lack of a standardized model of care for these youth\, the Association emerged in 2004 to lead the professional treatment community toward adoption of a best practice approach to assessment and intervention. The organization works to establish and maintain a credentialed provider network\, delivers structured\, research‑based training programs\, advocates for standardized best‑practice models of intervention\, and promotes a shared code of ethics for clinicians and allied professionals serving this population.  \n\n\n\nhttp://www.advocacyandtraining.org/ \n\n\n\nPlease submit your top questions to kim@incacs.org and any issues that you are seeing around problematic youth behavior in your centers.  Your questions will shape and raise the level of presentation for our guest speakers.  \n\n\n\nExamples:  \n\n\n\n\nWhat is the one thing you wish more child-serving professionals understood about youth sexual behavior problems?\n\n\n\nWhat are common mistakes professionals make when responding to youth with sexual behavior problems? \n\n\n\nHow do you distinguish developmentally expected sexual behavior from behavior that requires intervention?\n\n\n\nHow can CACs support siblings\, nonoffending caregivers and extended family system for treatment?\n\n\n\nIf 98% success rate happens when there is intervention\, how can we assist?\n\n\n\n\nThis will be held via zoom. A link will be provided as you register. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now for this event\n\n\n\n Please 🔒Login to register for this event.

SUMMARY:2025 - November 24 - Mandated Reporter Training: Meets Accreditation Standard 9
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a session on Mandated Reporting on November 24 at 1pm ET. \n\n\n\nThis training will meet the National Children’s Alliance Standard 9\, Child Safety and Protection\, Essential Component G\, for accreditation.  You will receive a certificate of attendance with the date and number of hours of the training. \n\n\n\nThe Mandated Reporter online training is designed to help professionals understand their responsibilities as mandated reporters\, who must report any suspicion of child maltreatment. Participants will learn current state statutes\, reporting requirements\, as well as the signs and symptoms of various types of maltreatment. They will identify proper procedures and practices for effective documentation and learn how to conduct a minimal facts interview which in turn reduces trauma and negative outcomes to an investigation. \n\n\n\nThis will be held via zoom. A link will be provided as you register. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now for this event\n\n\n\n \n X/TwitterThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)Your CAC(Required)Your title(Required)Years in this position(Required)0-1 years2-5 years5-10 years10+ yearsSubscribe to Indiana Chapter email updates\n \n Yes\, subscribe me\n We send occasional emails about new practices\, upcoming events and trainings\, and more.\n Submit \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ

SUMMARY:2025 - Oct 23 - Victim Advocacy Training - Working with Resistant or Reluctant Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:This will be held via Zoom. \n\n\n\nThis advanced session will guide advocates to dive deeper into the relationships that they have with social services and law enforcement alongside the families they serve in the advocacy role. We will discuss the implications\, and the intersectionality of the notorious systems labeled ‘non-compliant’ caregivers throughout a case and/or child maltreatment investigation. The training will share the advocacy perspective rooted in the work of Ellen Pence and the Advocacy Learning Center\, bridging grassroots work of domestic violence to the child advocacy center field. Participants will learn about how to better advocate for caregivers labeled as non-compliant\, resistive\, or reluctant. Trainers will facilitate discussion among participants designed to help shed light on the lived experiences of families of families and how they may present to multi-disciplinary professionals from a systems perspective.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister now for this event\n\n\n\n\n \n LinkedInThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name(Required)\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)Your CAC(Required)Your title(Required)Years in this position(Required)0-1 years2-5 years5-10 years10+ yearsSubscribe to Indiana Chapter email updates\n \n Yes\, subscribe me\n We send occasional emails about new practices\, upcoming events and trainings\, and more.\n Submit \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ
