The Indiana Chapter is not currently directly seeking employment applications. But individual child advocacy centers around Indiana are often seeking to fill positions. Some of these are listed below.


Heartford House CAC in Lafayette is hiring an Executive Director

BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the organization’s growth, accomplishments, and financial sustainability are aligned with its mission, vision, and strategic plan. The Executive Director will maintain positive relationships with staff, BOD, Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and the agencies they represent, the Advisory Committee, current and potential donors, and the general public. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization in partnership with the Board of Directors (BOD). The Executive Director will actively pursue and successfully obtain new grants; developing new funding sources in an effort to provide ongoing unrestricted revenue streams; creating successful opportunities for cultivating current and new donor relationships and spearheading successful fundraising strategies, campaigns, and events.  The Executive Director will also be involved with Direct Services, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

MISSION AND GROWTH

  • Providing strategic leadership; collaborating with the BOD to ensure development and growth of Heartford House Child Advocacy Center continues to align with the organization’s  strategic plan, mission, vision, values, goals and philosophical framework to ensure overall program success
  • Ensuring staff/interns have been made aware of, understand, and adhere to Board approved policies, including but not limited to:
  • Client Grievance
  • Code of Conduct
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Cultural Responsiveness and Inclusion
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Document Retention and Destruction
  • Employee, Intern and Volunteer Handbooks
  • Financial Management and Internal Controls
  • Gift Acceptance
  • Information Security
  • Whistleblower
  • Ensuring accreditation standards of the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) are achieved and maintained going forward; updating accreditation requirements as needed, including Memoranda of Understanding’s (MOU’s) and linkage agreements with the MDT’s
  • Acting as the primary spokesperson and public face of Heartford House; presenting the organization’s overall mission and goals to all interested parties
  • Serving as the Heartford House liaison with community agencies, attending meetings and events as needed; delegating event attendance to staff when appropriate
  • Maintaining active membership in the Indiana Chapter of Child Advocacy Centers

FINANCIAL

  • Ensuring financial stability, fiscal accountability, and overseeing the annual Audit process
  • Preparing the annual budget in conjunction with the Board Treasurer
  • Managing ongoing expenditures, approving organization invoices and staff reimbursements, and ensuring the accuracy of monthly financial, timecard, and payroll reports provided to our funders and Board Treasurer.

*FUNDRAISING

  • Grant writing and fund development experience strongly preferred. 
  • Ensuring applications are accurately completed, reviewed by a BOD designee, and submitted on time for all funding sources, including but not limited to Department of Child Services (DSC) contracts, Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) – Indiana Criminal Justice Institute grants, United Way grants (Tippecanoe, Clinton, Carroll, White counties), National Children’s Alliance (NCA) grants, Marquis Foundation grants, etc
  • Completing required, time-sensitive Outcome Measurement System (OMS) statistics for funders and/or Board, grant/contract funding reports, and funder reimbursement invoices  
  • Actively pursuing and obtaining new grants; developing new funding sources in an effort to provide ongoing, sustainable and unrestricted revenue streams; creating opportunities and successful strategies for fundraising events
  • Writing (and/or supervising the writing) and submission of annual grant applications; completing grant reporting requirements in a timely manner and attending grant training as needed
  • Networking and rapport building with community stakeholders, focusing primarily on increasing awareness of Heartford House in the communities we serve and identifying and cultivating potential donors
  • Aiding in the development of marketing materials used to raise awareness, educate the public, and/or provide opportunities for fundraising
  • Participating in design, planning and implementation of all internal fundraising efforts, including but not limited to our annual fundraiser, Stand Up for Kids
  • Conducting regular audits of NCAtrak (client database) to review input accuracy, ensuring correctness of data reported to funders and Board   
  • Overseeing Donor Management System (Network for Good) and ensuring accuracy of data entry

 DIRECT SERVICES

  • Must be proficient in stepping into any direct service role provided by Heartford House (Forensic Interviewer (FI), Advocate (AD), or Prevention Presenter) as detailed in separate job descriptions or Memorandums of Understanding (MOU); assuming the responsibilities detailed in those job descriptions; deferring to the FI, AD, or Presenter considered to be the Heartford House expert for feedback and advice on improving skills needed for these roles 

MDT FACILITATION

  • Aiding leadership staff in establishing credibility, fostering a success-oriented environment, in an effort to develop and maintain successful, cohesive MDT’s in the counties served (Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Warren, White)
  • Reviewing OMS survey results to ensure clients and MDTs are satisfied with services

LEADERSHIP

  • Supervising leadership staff, evaluating leadership job performance annually, or as needed
  • Facilitating and/or attending leadership and staff meetings; participating in staff and MDT functions
  • Ensuring direct service staff have adequate training, resources, and support needed to succeed; advocating for direct service staff with BOD when necessary

BOARD REPORTING

  • Participating in all BOD meetings, Strategic Planning sessions, and assigned committees as needed
  • Submitting monthly Executive Director Reports to BOD, in form and substance, required by Board Chair
  • Creating Board Meeting Agenda and providing Board packets to Board Members in a timely fashion

OTHER

  • Following all grant funding guidelines and expectations required of position
  • Other duties as assigned by the BOD

Proven grant writing and other fundraising knowledge and experience; capable of building strong relationships with potential funders; identifying grant opportunities; researching and writing clear and compelling proposals that include strong impact statements; submitting proposals prior to deadlines; answering follow up questions from grant agencies and/or providing impact reports as required

  • Financial Management Expertise

Excellent financial management skills, capable of creating and following an annual budget; possesses a strong grasp and understanding of financial statements and QuickBooks

  • Leads by Example

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree. Previous professional experience working with children and families is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to work independently, or creatively as part of a cooperative and coordinated team, capable of working with a variety of people, including children and their families, professionals from the MDTs and their agency employees, education personnel, current and potential donors and funding representatives and accept guidance and direction from the Board of Directors
  • Proficient in office productivity tools, including Word, Excel, Adobe, and other work related programs
  • Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight, coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to record, prepare and communicate reports and operate office equipment
  • Must complete a criminal and DCS background check and sign a confidentiality agreement prior to starting work
  • Must be willing and able to drive throughout an eight county region for team meetings, court hearings and forensic interviews
  • Must be willing to be on call for after-hours interviews 24/7/365 as determined by the on-call schedule
  • Must complete criminal and DCS background and digital fingerprint checks and sign a confidentiality agreement prior to starting work
  • Must understand this position is funded in part by grants and is commensurate with continued funding of the grants and following all grant guidelines and expectations.
  • *Fundraising – Time spent on fundraising will be outside any of the grant function duties paid for by a grant.  Compensation for these duties will be paid by non-grant monies and/or sustainable income of the CAC.
